New Starters

New Starter Information

For junior new starters we run an introductory one-month trial, the first taster session is FREE with no obligation - if your child enjoys this taster session there is then just a one off £20 payment to complete the trial month.

During this trial period we will loan your child a judo jacket and belt, all they need to wear is a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms (no zips or poppers) or leggings (no shorts) - they will also need to bring clean flip-flops/slides and a full water bottle.

After the one-month trial period, if your child decides to continue their judo journey they will then be required start a monthly club membership, purchase a judogi and take out an annual British Judo membership.

Our Monday to Friday evening classes are open for training through all of the school holidays (only closing for two weeks at Christmas). Our Saturday classes run during school term time only. Please note that we 
do not offer any private classes.

Our intakes for junior new starters start on the first week of each month:
  • U8 (5-7yrs) - Tuesdays/ Wednesdays, 6:15 to 7:00pm. Next available taster sessions: Tuesday 1st or Wednesday 2nd July 2025.
  • U8 (​5-7yrs) - Saturdays, 9:15 to 10:00am. Next available taster session: Saturday 5th July 2025.
  • U12 (8-11yrs) - Mondays/ Thursdays, 6:15 to 7:00pm. Next available taster sessions: Monday 7th or Thursday 3rd July 2025.
  • U12 (8-11yrs) - Saturdays, 10:10 to 10:55am. Next available taster session: Saturday 5th July 2025.
  • U15 (12-14yrs) - Mondays, 7:00 to 8:15pm. Next available taster session: Monday 7th July 2025.

We are not currently running any beginner classes for adults (+14yrs), but if you have sufficient previous experience (typically a minimum grade of judo green belt, or 3-5yrs experience of other grappling combat sports/martial arts) we may be able to integrate you into our existing Monday senior session.
