Well done to all those who fought at the 61 Judo Club Championships this weekend GOLD - Joely Renolds; SILVER - John Rivers-Velez; BRONZE - Max Fraser, Chloe Nunn; 5th - Adam Johnson
Our club was founded over 10 years ago. We are the only judo club in Bishops Stortford that is a member club of the British Judo Association (the National Governing Body for British Judo). We are also Sport England Clubmark accredited and we have also set up School 2 Dojo links with some of the local schools.
The clubs coaches are BJA qualified, CRB checked, former Great Britain Internationals, hold HSE First Aid Certificates and attend Child Protection & Long Term Development courses.
We are a diverse club with ages of active players ranging from 5 to 55, male and female. We have families doing judo, both parents and children. There is a great camaraderie at the club which has created many strong friendships. We cater for all ablities and interests ranging from novice to national level. Amongst our less or non-competitive, we encourage players to gain qualifications in refereeing, competition officiating and coaching.
We also run JudoFit sessions - cardiovascular workout and circuit training where judo movements are performed to music.
Visitors from other clubs and Beginners are always welcome, if you would like to take up the olympic sport of judo, you need just a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms, we will lend you a jacket and belt and the first lesson is free. Alternatively, if you have done judo before, we will give you a gentle restart at your own pace.
Olympians Visit Bishops Stortford Judokwai
Thank you to our visitors Joyce Heron, British Judo’s Education and Training Manager (Olympian and World Medallist) and Yoko Tanabe (Double Olympic Silver Medallist, 5 time World Medallist and 6 time All-Japan Open Champion).
Everybody throughly enjoyed Yoko's masterclass on Ouchi-gari and Osoto-gari.
